Gets the Job Done!
I love this system - it definitely works. But depending upon your goals, it’s wise to weigh the cost of these products against the price of a basic toning service at your salon. If you’re just looking to reduce the effects of hard water - this mask alone will probably do the trick for you. I have hard well water and my blonde hair is often dry with brassy red/yellowish tones. I wanted something to make my hair soft and remove the unwanted hues. The purple mask made my hair incredibly soft and smooth and it mitigated most of my brass. That said, I had to bump my treatment time up to one hour to get the desired color toning effects. After using both, I don’t think the mask is nearly as potent as the shampoo.
Ultimately I decided I wanted an ash look. I read some of the shampoo reviews and saw folks with lilac hair and I felt a twinge of FOMO. It was a splurge, but I purchased the shampoo. I’m glad I did - if ash, gray, or even lavender is your goal and you’re on a budget - get the shampoo instead. I accidentally left mine in longer than intended (fell asleep in the tub, super safe lol). My hair has some predictable purple-ish tones given the extra treatment time, but I LOVE it and I’ve been swarmed with compliments.
I have about $50 invested in these products. I love, love, love my hair - but I do wonder how this price would compare with a salon. I believe glazes run about $20 coupled with my other hair services. Weigh and consider that - but know that that this is an effective, awesome product line.
