Retinol vs Retin-A
I love the Uptown Line because of their use of Organic Ingredients. Retinol 2.5% Cream is approximately 71% organic with ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, jojoba oil, wheat germ oil and green tea, all beneficial for the body and skin. For comparative reasons I am going to point out the difference between Retin-A and Retinol, so it is clear what the purpose and possible uses for this product , and the difference between Retin-a and Retinol.
Retinol, is much different than Retin-A ( often found in pharmaceuticals ) for the use of acne creams and fine lines and wrinkles. Retinol, which can be safely used in concentrations up to 2.5%, Retinol is found in many products that don't require a prescription. Retinols are much weaker than prescription retinoids. Unless vitamin A is listed as one of the top five ingredients and the product is packaged in an airtight opaque bottle, what you're getting might not be all that effective. ( Note that this product has special packaging which has an airtight pumping lid and opaque top) Neither retinoids nor retinols should be used by breastfeeding or pregnant women.
Both are retinoids. They're both made from vitamin A and promote faster skin cell turnover. And they're some of the most proven, effective, and powerful options for treating skin issues ranging from acne to signs of aging.
Retinoids come in prescription form and in a range of over-the-counter products. Prescription-level retinoids fall into these groups:
•Tretinoin, including the brands Atralin, Retin-A, Retin-A Micro, and Renova
•Tazarotene, such as the brand Tazorac
• Adapalene, such as the brand Differin
I liked this product because unlike Retin-A, which can cause sensitivity to the skin, such as redness. peeling and flaking, I had virtually no side effects. This medium weight cream, lightly scented, leaves your skin feeling visibly softer, tightened and toned after just several uses. I noticed a dramatic difference in my neck area. This cream has lessened the appearance of fine lines, crows feet and smile lines around my mouth area, with just a few applications.
While I typically use Retin-A for my Acne prone skin, I also have very sensitive skin and using Retin-A causes my skin to crack, split, and flake after just several uses. This appears to be a much more effective method for treating the same type of skin problems, and is also considerably healthier, and much more cost effective.
I received this product at a deeply discounted rate in order to have the opportunity to fairly and unbiasedly review this product.
