Heals the gut; prevents candida overgrowth... and this brand has no odor.
Dietary collagen and gelatin products are said to be good for: - firming the skin, and reducing wrinkles, when taken internally (evidence of this is mostly anecdotal, but many people swear by it) - strengthening hair, toenails and fingernails - healing UV skin damage (this claim has been verified in studies in which mice were fed gelatin, rich in collagen, then exposed to UV light). - killing candida and restoring gut health, when taken internally. (Recent studies have verified that gelatin is 100 percent effective in preventing candida from adhering to the intestinal lining, thus preventing candidadiasis -- and that collagen, a gelatin product, is 68 percent effective at preventing adherence.) (Amazon reviews do not allow links to external websites, but to read about the studies, Google the phrase, "Gelatin fragments block adherence of Candida albicans to extracellular matrix proteins." Some people don't like using collagen because some brands smell like gelatin (which, to some people, smells like wet leather). (This makes sense, because both gelatin and collagen are made from cow hides.) The smell doesn't bother me but to some folks it's a major issue. So I'm happy to report that this product, Vital Proteins Pasture-Raised Collagen, has no odor at all. I received it today, opened the container and inhaled deeply.... nothing. (By comparison, Neo Cell's "Super Collagen" has a strong gelatin smell.)
