Not 'JUST' T.E.N.S. but read on..this has been updated..and with pictures from leaflet.
Instruction sheet has no mention or wording of 'T.E.N.S.'.. There are the words 'mini massager.. as far as I know, you can massage a muscle, but not a nerve (which is what a T.E.N.S. unit affects - nerves).. So, I have to agree with other reviewers that say it is not a T.E.N.S. unit, but rather a 'muscle massager'.. Another distinguishing trait of a 'muscle massager' versus a T.E.N.S unit (as per WebMD) is that a muscle massager has some sort of 'time option', whereas a T.E.N.S. unit does not.. This device has 'time options'. .. Haven't tried it yet, but I'm hopeful it will help relieve some sciatica pain .. It will be a 3 star rating due to it not being a T.E.N.S. unit but I will update after I try it out.. UPDATE!!! ok - Disclaimer - I am NOT a Doctor and have ZERO medical experience or knowledge.. So I am now updating this review with experience from actual usage as well as an explanation of the 'modes'.. refer to pictures if you don't have the multi-language instructional leaflet.. (I only took pics of the English section) Its a great little device for the price and I have massaging relief in muscles that were sore as well as 'pain relief' in that muscle in my forearm from tendinitis (tennis elbow) It has a decent selection of electrode pads in varying sizes as well as 2 long dual electrode wires and also a 6 electrode wire. That offers a variety of placement for your situation. To explain the 'Modes'.. the leaflet says there are 16 modes and numbers them in the leaflet, but they are not numbered on the device. After you turn on the device, on the LED screen of the device there are pictures of circles (3 rows of 2 circles each). Each circle is a selection of 'mode but has a selection of variations within it.. So.. it goes as follows, with description from the leaflet, reading the circles from left to right and top to bottom, like you read a sentence and paragraph... : Mode 1-4 Knead : the 1st circle and has 4 settings in it. Mode 5-7 Acupuncture : the 2nd circle and has 3 settings in it Mode 8-10 Cupping: 3rd circle with 3 settings Mode 11-12 Tapping: 4th circle with 2 settings ---> this also seemed to be the closest to the T.E.N.S. setting (I'll explain below ***) Mode 13-14 Shiatsu-Deep: 5th circle with 2 settings Mode 15-16 Auto Combination : 6th circle with 2 settings. Research what each type of massage means (Knead, Acupuncture, Cupping, etc) to see what you might need on your muscles.. Each mode takes about a minute for it to cycle through whatever its going to do, so give it time for you to decide if you like the mode you're using.. also, increase the intensity to your comfort level so you can feel what the mode you've selected is doing. *** The Mode 11-12 Tapping seems to fit the T.E.N.S. description - the picture in the Circle for it shows a head and brain symbol (neurological?), AND the unlike the other modes that definitely 'contracted my muscles, Mode 11-12 only sent a tingly sensation to what felt like just beneath my skin between the electrode pads.. Mode 11-12 DID NOT contract my muscles.*** To navigate through the modes - After you turn the unit on it starts in the 1st circle. Press the 'M' on the circular directional button and it will move to the 2nd circle and subsequent presses of M will move it to the next circle after, and repeat.. When you are in the Circle you want, pressing the CENTER button just below the 'M' will select the settings within the Circle that you are in. For example: to get to the Mode 5-7 Acupuncture, you turn on the unit, then press the M once to move to the 2nd circle and then use the CENTER button to select the setting you want (Modes 5, 6, 7) since there are 3 settings within that Circle. INTENSITY of the Mode you select is changed by pressing the " - " or " + " on the Left and Right sides of that circular directional button. Each mode starts at the lowest setting. TIME of 'treatment' is defaulted to 20 minutes after you turn the unit on. To increase the amount of time, press the 'T' on the bottom of the circular directional button and it will add 10 minutes with each press. IF you don't like what you select, just turn off the unit and turn it on again. IMPORTANT! Attach the pads to the wires first before putting on your body. Plug in the wires to the unit BEFORE turning on the unit. Turn the unit OFF BEFORE removing the pads or disconnecting the wires from the pads or the unit. Also , please READ and HEED the precautions in the leaflet, also shown in the pic below.. This little unit is no joke and you can hurt yourself if you don't do things correctly. (on trying out both double electrode wires on my calf and thigh on the Acupuncture mode at about 80% intensity, one of the wires got unplugged from the unit and I got a jot from the remaining wire and electrodes since the load was balanced off the 2 wires then all went to 1 .. that woke me up.. so be careful and attentive to what you're doing. Again, for the price its a great unit and has helped me.. I plan to use it everyday.. It offers BOTH muscle massage and, what feels like T.E.N.S. pain relief with Modes 11-12. (again, I am not a Doctor and have ZERO medical knowledge)
