Great in this price range
We have 2 dogs that are crazy about dried chicken (overdone chicken jerky). We used to buy it at the store in the big bags until about a year ago when they recalled all of it because it was coming from China and had bad things in it that was killing dogs. It was also not cheap - about $20 for a one pound bag. Well I didn't want to deprive my dogs of their favorite treat, so I decided that I would start making my own. I shopped everywhere for a dehydrator and read tons of reviews. After weighing all the options and looking at what features you can get at what price ranges, I decided on this one. I am really glad I did. To have the adjustable temperature AND timer is wonderful. After a couple of batches of dried chicken I have figured out the exact time and temp to get it done, and now I can get it going and forget about it. Sliced up I can get about 3 pounds of chicken in it and that makes the equivalent to about 2 of the large bags I used to buy. The trays are also nice. I just put them in the dishwasher on a "gentle" cycle and they do fine. The base unit also cleans very easily with just some spray cleaner and a paper towel. It stores very nicely since all of the trays will overlap each other when turned the same way and it shrinks down to a nice compact size to store in a cabinet. I have done one batch of regular people jerky with some sirloin and the packets of jerky seasoning they give you and it was incredible. I am looking forward to playing around with it some more on other things like fruits and different flavored jerky seasonings. If you are looking for a dehydrator in this price range, don't hesitate to buy this one.
