I do not usually carve out precious time to write reviews on products I purchase, especially on those as seemingly insignificant as this little sink strainer. But I have been frustrated by a number of sink strainers lately because they continually get clogged and require constant cleaning several times a day. This Dripsie, however, is different. 1) I eat mostly fresh, unprocessed foods, i.e. there's always something being washed in the sink to add to the bits that find their way to the drain. I recycle every can of cat food and every bit of plastic, which means their residual contents need to be cleaned out beforehand. I used home-made Castile soap which tends to clog small pores of most strainers. But with this little guy I can often go days without cleaning it out. The company advertises that it has a unique design, and they are right. The variations and positions of the holes are very effective. I have been using this product now for a couple of weeks and not noticed any clogging of my sink drain for allowing food particles to pass through. 2) The product is made in the USA. I am not xenophobic. I appreciate quality, good design, and American companies that value bolstering economies of local communities over American companies amassing dollars by paying no taxes and slave-labor wages making cheap products overseas. 3) The product is BPA-free. BPA is Bisphenol-A, an estrogen-imitating chemical used to produce reusable plastic products, such as baby bottles, toddler sippy cups and plastics you might use for storing leftover food. These types of chemicals have reportedly had health effects on humans, specifically in the fetal and infant states. 4) To top it off, the company also thought about it's impact on the environment from its packaging. The Dripsie comes in a compostable cardboard box. All that for $8.95.
