An Almost Perfect Garden
Don't have to be "young" to enjoy-- only YOUNG AT HEART (50+).
Would have given a five+++ if more creative solutions and/or options were (even randomly) available 4 the more difficult levels-- BEYOND giving into the "RANSOM DEMANDS" of $20+ after almost a week of obsessively stubborn attempts of solving on my own. IN one more day, I would have executed a "TOTAL DELETION" of all relevant files...
This score was a compliment -- I love puzzles and have spent a lifetime problem solving. I understand the need to make $$$ from the games-- on many occasions, I willingly spent money when excited about possible rewards and/or faster outcomes or advancement.
But, in my opinion, on rare occasion, a game is developed that has the potential to excel beyond all expectations...
I honestly believe that these are the games that are MOST at risk of "an early death" because of the audience's frustration with what I call the "EXHAUSTIVE NEGATIVELY REINFORCED ENDLESS LOOP" -- TOO MANY DIFFICULT LEVELS... THAT LEAD UP TO "a bunch of" COMPULSIVE PURCHASES... WITH MINIMAL POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT (REWARDS)...ENDING IN
MORE FREQUENT NEGATIVE BEHAVIORS BEING EXHIBITED ...THE ONLY OPTION FOR REGAINING PERSONAL CONTROL OF FINANCES AND PERSONAL LIFE...IS TO ADMIT DEFIET AND DELETE GAME!!!
For the game designer & company controlling the masses, there are choices: 1) "Take The Money & Run," or 2) Realize That This Game Has Long Term Potential & That It's Long-Term Success Is Dependent On The Ability To Challenge the Currant Gamers While Continuously adding New Elements Of Surprise Capable Of Drawing In The Next Group Of Players.
I Love The Premise Of This Game-- The Simplicity Is Genius And Is Capable Of Sparking Interest On Many Levels. Most Of The Really Famous Games Have Similar Basic Formats And Of Course A Story That Draws The Gamer In To By Allowing Participation.
Already, I Wish I Could Purchase A Stuffed Animal Toy That Looks Like My DOG, "TRISTON" and obtain building plans for my newly created doghouse, bridge, and treehouse. I have even been inspired enough to attempt a new flower garden, despite accusations from friends and family that I don't have "a gifted green thumb!"
More importantly, until the recent set-back, the levels were a perfect challenge for the "problem solving & mathematical portion of my brain. In fact, finding games capable of satisfying someone who, was a "military brat" in a loyal military family who had fought in WWll, Korea and then (when I was young) Vietnam. Thus, my brother and I had babysitters who were also patients at V. A. Hospitals. We thought that it was normal to spend the day with disfigured and/or paralyzed men and women in wheelchairs and (because they weren't electric) would organize races so that the nursing staff could push the chairs down the slope as we proudly say on the laps of each participant. Then, because this was not "normal enough," my initial exposure to formal education became the responsibility of an Irish Nun obsessed with Notre Dame's football team winning every game, batting averages of New York Yankee players, & Las Vegas gambling! While this all led to a lifelong pledge to help those in need, numerous awards in science and math, and using an unorthodox methodology for teaching. But, with all of this attention given to raising this "normal kid," I still have a GUILTY CONCIENCE EVERY TIME I GO TO A University of Miami football game or cheer for the Marlins to win and have to repress the urge to "confess my sins."
Being Gemini Means More.... So I Can Honestly say that my creative talents were molded by the "crazy Artist Aunt" who would secretively pour on the affection by give me all kinds of art supplies and teaching me how to use them.
All of these normal boring experiences led to me eventually getting my initial B.A. Degree in Psychology and Special Education with a minor in Religion. After that, because I worked at the school, I went back and tortured myself thru all of the advanced Calculus, etc. and sciences, met my husband (who was unable to handle the coursework) and became state certified to teach Middle School. Didn't care much for the State Teaching Methodology & went back to working with handicapped students at the college and university for many years. Then, after surviving Hurricane Andrew's destruction and witnessing tragedy, heroism, survival, and "downright stupidity," I bought a new house and, with the support of my husband, the extra confidence generated after becoming a scholarship recipient, I went back to school and became an artist!!!!
Because of my shared love of art and math, an achievement that baffles most of my friends, finding games that satisfy my needs is rare. My story probably means little, but I believe that this uniqueness give me an interesting insight that few even recognize. However, while I was forced to learn about programming, and my husband was a "computer geek" and tried to convert me-- I willingly admit that, while I admire those who have the was one talent to create the games I love to play, I will never have the desire to be on the other side!!!!!
IN CONCLUSION, I AM HOPEFUL THAT THIS GAME, MY FAVORITE WILL CONTINUE TO GROW AND
THAT I CAN CONTINUE TO ENJOY THE ART THAT IS CREATED......
THANK YOU & GOOD LUCK
P.S. WHILE I THINK THAT MY DOG TRUST IN IS ADORABLE, I REALLY WANT A CAT!
I'LL CHANGE MY RATING TO A 5 IF THIS IS GOING TO BECOME POSSIBLE....SOON
