This is a good medium temperature bag of good construction that is a reasonable weight to carry and is spacious.
Good bag for the money.
I do a lot of camping and backpacking with my 4 sons. They are all in Scouts so they do even more. We own something like 11 sleeping bags. Some are for car camping and some are for backpacking. Some are for cold weather and some for warm weather.
This is a good multi use bag for several reasons. Let me explain.
The quality of construction looks and feels good. The zipper is solid. The outer shell is a medium weight one so it is more durable than an ultra light backpacking bag but not as heavy as a "sleep on the ground" hunters bag. The bag should hold up well for many years if cared for.
The weight at just under 4 pounds is also reasonable. You could backpack at this weight and frankly will look at paying well over $100 more for a down bag to get significantly lighter.
The size is very spacious. I'm 6' and 210 pounds and fit nicely in this bag. The "hybrid" stile is nice. Having the hood like a mummy bag but a square foot-box gives you more room than a mummy bag while still having the warmth. You have a slightly bulkier and heavier bag but most would agree that the extra room for the feet is worth it.
The liner or inside of the bag has a nice feel to it. It is softer and sell "sticky" feeling than many bags on the market. It is not cotton which would be heaver but not the slick woven polyester. It does look to be polyester but with a softer more open weave.
Having the hood has a couple of advantages. You can use the draw string to cinch it up around you head to help with warmth if needed but it also does a great job of holding your pillow under your head. When camping you don't have the headboard to keep you pillow from sliding out from under your head.
The stuff bag this comes with is a good one. Having the cinch straps allows you to compress the bag down to fit when backpacking.
As far as the temperature rating is concerned. When I compare this to my bags I would say that I would feel comfortable in this bag down to about 40 degrees F. At 40 I would likely be wearing a beanie. Guessing you could survive with it at 32 degrees but you are going to be cold.
So bottom line is that this is a good medium temperature bag of good construction that is a reasonable weight to carry and is spacious. At $50 it is a good value.
