The sleep away function works great! As for iPad protection I've already dropped my iPad accidentally falling asleep while using it. I have a concrete floor covered with a thin carpet. NO DAMAGE! My one complaint is I got an iPad for drawing, only problem is I got the Zugu Case is because I saw good reviews which were all right. Sadly nothing really said anything about problems with the lowest setting. I use it on the lowest angle setting and have to use one hand to hold it in place when drawing cause it won't stay up on it's own. If you're getting this for the low angle setting be expecting to hold it in place if drawing, if getting this for any other reason, I suggest getting this cause you couldn't get anything better.
