Almost done reading it!
Purchased this book about a week ago. I'm planning an assisted home water birth. However, my midwife lives two hours away (she is the closest midwife to me) and she was not going to make it to my first birth, which resulted in a transfer. This time I am taking every precaution I can think of to not birth in the hospital. I want to feel prepared for anything and that means birthing unassisted. This book is super easy to read and I will finish it long before my May due date! ***Update I am SO GLAD I READ THIS BOOK!!! My beautiful daughter made it earthside, in a pool, in my living room, unassisted on May 14th, 2020. I was not scared at all. I listened to my body and did what felt right. I had prodromal labor for months that always started 4-4:30 every night and lasted until 4 am, like clockwork. The night I went into labor was no exception. When I woke up 12:30 am things were only slightly more intense than they had been. Texted the midwife, told her we may be having a baby later that day. Would let her know if things seemed to progress. I told my husband if it went passed 4 am or picked up to call her. I then proceeded to clean my entire house until at 3:30 am my husband told me to stop cleaning and to focus on having a baby. I meditated on my exercise ball until I could no longer sit. I told him to text the midwife, air up the pool, and fill it. He called the midwife about 4 or so and she told him he didn't need to fill the pool, we were probably still a few hours out from needing it. SO I got in the shower. While in the shower I felt baby move down and told my husband he had better fill the pool. Moved into the pool. My sister arrived around 5:30 am and braided my hair between contractions. She watched me and checked on my three year old who was asleep in our bed. My husband continued getting water for the pool and I told them I was crowning, very calmly I might add. My husband asked my sister what I said. She said "sHe THinKs ShEs CRoWNinG" he texted the midwife at 6 am. Two pushes later my daughter was born in the sack, at 6:02 am. Ladies, YOU CAN DO IT. YOUR BODY WAS BUILD FOR THIS. YOU KNOW YOUR BODY BETTER THAN ANYONE.
