Updating the firmware from v.1.0.0.66 to v.1.0.1.84_1.0.148 was successful.

DO NOT update to the latest firmware 1.0.1.78; it disables the extender! I was able to replicate this problem with multiple units. I have brought this up with Netgear Support. Unfortunately, Netgear is keeping this firmware up on their website, and encouraging users to update to this version.
