I can't reproduce the lighting conditions they must have used when they took the picture of this blanket, because I bought it thinking it was a waffle-weave, like thermal underwear, and it's not: it's a bit looser than that; you can see light through it when you hold it up. That aside, it's a very comfortable blanket, and between the all-cotton components and the weave, it's a perfect blanket for those who need more than a sheet but who may find microfiber or other non-cotton materials too warm. I bought the burgundy twin, and it did give out some color during wash and a lot of burgundy lint at drying, but I believe this would be the case with any dyed cotton complex-weave item. The post-wash blanket still feels sturdy. Bonus: no shiny/cold sateen border; I hate those.
