Works fine, but take care when connecting.
I just installed this, so I can't say anything about how long it will last. But this device worked perfectly where other models I bought (from other manufacturers) did not work. My setup is the simplest possible - input from a cable TV box, outputs to two TVs. I tested this device under all circumstances, and it always worked - with either TV on or off, with a TV on but switched to another input, with either output cable unplugged, and turning the input signal (the cable TV box) on and off repeatedly. Every time, it supplied both audio and video to the connected outputs without any problems. Since I went through several defective devices (made by various manufacturers) before finding one that worked, I have some suggestions. 1. When installing the device, do these steps in the following order: (a) Make sure that the power is off for the splitter. (b) Turn off the power for your input and output devices (in my case the cable box and TVs). You don't have to unplug them - just turn them off. (c) Connect all three HDMI cables at both ends. (d) Connect the power cable to the splitter (both ends, so the spltter powers on). (e) Turn on the power for your input and output devices. After this, you can turn your input and output devices off and on whenever you wish, as long as you do not unplug the HDMI cables. If you need to unplug or replace the HDMI cables, first power off the splitter, and then repeat the above steps. The instructions for these devices sometimes say to do some of these steps, and sometimes they don't. But based on peoples' comments on other devices, either they believe their devices stopped working when they connected the cables in a different order, or they were told this by customer service. 2. Give the splitter lots of ventilation. All of these HDMI splitters run hot. Sometimes the instructions warn you about this, and sometimes they don't. I placed my splitter outside (behind) my TV cabinet, on top of something so that it's not sitting on the floor or carpet. 3. If you are looking among multiple devices to decide which one to buy, be aware that you will find the same device under multiple names from different suppliers. You have to look at the pictures and then you will see that they are the same device. 4. In case the device doesn't work, you have a guaranteed minimum-hassle return if you buy it using Amazon Prime (shameless plug). I use Amazon Prime even if the device is less expensive from another supplier. Shipping is free with Amazon Prime. Also, if you want to return it, Amazon will always take it back within 30 days (or until January 31 if you buy it during the Christmas season), and Amazon will pay the return shipping.
