This product is advertised with an aluminum handle. However, my handle is NOT aluminum! It is hard plastic, but has been durable. The Nabber is solid overall. Having looked at many models, I was alerted to consider whether a cord vs. a wire is used to operate the jaws when the handle is pulled. Cord may have a tendency to degrade or stretch out and render the jaws unable to fully close when the handle is pulled. This Nabber has a wire to draw the jaws, which should mostly eliminate the possibility. Note that, with the jaws fully closed, the handle potentially could only be depressed another one-eighth inch before contacting the pole; so any stretching or other maladjustment could quickly affect one's ability to depress the handle far enough to draw the jaws fully closed. The jaws HAD good alignment and contact when first bought, but I often have had to bend them back into alignment after applying a little pressure on them, for example, by grasping a rag to wipe a spill off the floor with a back-and-forth motion. I've picked up a dime, an M&M, a paper clip, etc. off a hard surface, but that is becoming more problematic considering the number of times I've had to bend the jaws back into position. It handles 1-lb. food cans easily. The jaws are at an angle of about 30 degrees from the pole. The models with small suction cups seemed problematic to me. Several reviewers of those models agreed that the cups may degrade or fall off, thus compromising the grasping surface. No such problem with this tool.
