EDITED: Yoozon's USB 2.0 Type-A to Type-C cable has been updated to follow Type-C Spec! 56kΩ resistor used for termination.
UPDATED review 11/19/2015:
YooTech got in touch with me shortly after my original review, and acknowledged the problem that I highlighted below (3A identifier resistor). They almost immediately (within a day or two) overnighted me a new USB cable to test. Here are my test results (along with some pictures) of the new cable.
Just like in my previous reviews, I'm using a Chromebook Pixel 2015 in developer mode, and a Chromium team Twinkie debug device (available on Amazon here from Plugable : Plugable USB 3.1 Type-C (USB-C) Power Delivery Sniffer)
I've plugged the updated Yoozon cable into a Dell 10W DCP charger, specifically this one : Dell 10W Adapter Spare Wall Charger for Venue 8 Pro/8/7 (XDN34), and the other end of the cable into Twinkie, acting as a passthrough to Pixel.
Here is the result of the ectool command :

Port 1: SRC
So far so good! This indicates that Pixel has negotiated to 2A of charging with the charger, and that it knows the charger is a DCP type, and NOT Type-C type at 3A like the old cable.
Lets switch to Twinkie, and take a closer look at the CC line :

CC2_PD = 434
Again, a good result. CC2_PD shows a value of 434mV. Referring to Table 4-25 in the Type-C Spec, that value falls right in the middle of the vRd-USB level, indicating that the cable is correctly advertising Default USB Power using a 56kΩ resistor. This cable will safely charge your new gadgets.
In conclusion, Yoozon as a company has been very responsive, and has moved quickly to bring compliant cables to the market. The Yoozon USB 2.0 Type-C to Type-A cable is a great 3rd party legacy cable for Nexus 5X/6P and Chromebook Pixel 2015 devices, along with future USB Type-C compliant devices to come!
ORIGINAL Review :
Benson again continuing my reviews of USB Type-C legacy cables. This time, I'm reviewing Yoozon's USB 2.0 Type A to Type-C cable.
This cable does not correctly follow the USB Type C specification Release 1.1. To find the specification, please go to usb.org, and look under developers/usbtypec.
Specifically, using this charging cable, the Chromebook Pixel will attempt to draw 3A of current over the cable, potentially damaging the USB hub or charger on the A side, which is not guaranteed to be rated at 3A.
Please see Section 4.11 and the following note :
1. For Rp when implemented in the USB Type-C plug on a USB Type-C to USB 3.1 Standard-A Cable
Assembly, a USB Type-C to USB 2.0 Standard-A Cable Assembly, a USB Type-C to USB 2.0 Micro-B
Receptacle Adapter Assembly or a USB Type-C captive cable connected to a USB host, a value of 56 k'
± 5% shall be used, in order to provide tolerance to IR drop on V BUS and GND in the cable assembly.
In other words, since you are creating a USB Type-C plug to a USB 2.0 Type-A Plug assembly, you must use a resistor of value 56k' as a pull-up on CC (configuration channel). According to my testing, your cable uses a 10k' pull-up, which is not legal when the other end of the cable or adapter is a legacy Type-A or Type-B connector or receptacle.
Please let me know if there is any more information I can provide about why these adapters are problematic.
For consumers, I do not recommend buying this cable, as it may cause damage to your charger, hub, or PC USB ports.
