For Tightly Spaced Teeth, the Reach Flosser Works Better
Addendum: I've been using these for almost 3 years now and continue to use them on the tightest quadrant of my teeth and Reach flossers on the rest. Reach has improved the quality and lowered the price on their flossers but the shape and strength of this T-Smile flosser works well on my right upper quadrant. I can only floss between six teeth before the string shreds. My 10 year old grandson finds this to be an easier flosser to use than the Reach. I'm just glad he's flossing with anything. Original Review: If your selection is based on cost, I'd buy these. They are about seven cents a head cheaper than the Listerine refills for the Reach handle. If your selection is based on floss toughness, these are stronger but they are also fatter and harder to use with closely spaced teeth. If your selection is based on ease of use, I'd buy the Reach handle and Listerine heads. I can use this flosser but not as easily. The thickness of the thread makes it more difficult for me to floss my tightly spaced teeth. Because the fit is tight, I bruise my lips trying to get the floss in and it often hits my gum hard. The heads are also harder to unattach when you are done flossing. I attached three photos comparing the longer Reach flosser with the TSmile. If you have normal teeth, this is probably a good option. For tightly spaced teeth, I recommend Reach. Addendum: I'm using the Tsmile on my upper right quadrant where my teeth are the tightest spaced. The shape of the flosser works well on this quadrant and the strength of the floss lets me complete that quadrant without breaking. It breaks before I complete the rest of the top teeth. Then I use the Reach to do the rest, although it is prone to breaking also, in which case I switch to an extra-strong Gum flosser to finish. It costs me about me about $7.50 a month to floss my teeth but a root canal costs around $1000 so I'm good with that. 2 Month Addendum: I have found that the T-smile flosser is more likely to break and leave floss stuck between my teeth than Reach. The T-smile generally breaks after 6 very tightly spaced teeth and I have to remove the stuck floss with the Reach flosser. On the other hand, I sometimes find Reach heads that are too loose to use while the T-smile flossers are consistently tight.
