A review from someone who actually bought it
First things first. If you buy a 2080 or something and you're expecting a giant leap in performance, forget it; you're best off saving your money. This thing is only about 15% more powerful than a standard 2080, and isn't as strong as a 2080TI.
HOWEVER, if you don't have $1300 to spend on a high quality 2080TI, this is your best bet.
I upgraded from a 1070TI and BOY let me tell you the difference is massive. I'm actually surprised if I drop below 144fps, even at ultra, in games like R6 Siege, Mordhau, Grand Theft Auto V, etc. You don't need me to tell you how strong the 2080 series is.
The RGB is slick and pretty, and makes my old 1070TI look like it's from the '90s, if that makes any sense. It's hard to describe, but I suppose I'd say that the delivery and presentation of it is rather modern.
As far as cons go, there's a few to go over; there's a little tacked-on bit at the end of the lighting plate that looks cheap, the improvement over the 2080 isn't very much, and the overclock room is microscopic.
First, let's address that plate. They obviously re-used the plate from the 2080 and made no attempt to hide it. In my 3rd picture you can clearly see the only distinguishing feature between this and a 2080 is an afterthought.
Second, this isn't a very large upgrade from the 2080. It's better, yes, but only by about 15% performance-wise. The 2080TI is still stronger and despite being the same price as a regular 2080, people are still buttmad about Nvidia dropping this card so soon after the launch of the 20 series cards, which effectively made the regular 2080 redundant. The 2070 super is cheaper and is almost as strong as the 2080. What's more is that the 1080TI is still one of the best cards out there and outside of ray-tracing there's still no reason to upgrade to a 20 series card. The performance upgrade is minimal.
Finally, the overclock potential is non-existent. You can get a few gains but not much. If overclocking is what you want, the 2080TI is still your best bet.
So is it worth buying? Depends. If you've got a noticeably less powerful card, this one's for you. If you want ray-tracing, this one's for you. If you want a major improvement over the 2080/1080TI, wait until it goes on sale or until AMD forces Nvidia to release a more powerful graphics card. Although if we're honest, that last one might not be for awhile.
