I started adding this supplement to my CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease) kitty's wet food approximately 1 year ago after learning she was in kidney failure, in addition to a phosphate binder and a potassium supplement all mixed into a fresh tin of fancy feast gravy type food. She would lick up the gravy from the food which contained nutritional supplements and helped keep her hydrated and provided the Omega-3 and potassium support. As a back up I kept Royal Canin kidney diet dry food out as well for "grazing". (These kidney cats tend to become very finicky and it helps to offer some choice as I would see her alternating between the two types of food.) Since I know well the positive effects of a high quality Omega- 3 fish oil in providing natural anti -inflammatory effects for humans, I also found a good body of evidence that suggests similar benefits in dogs and cats and even helping to sooth inflammation in failing kidneys in cats. Although I have no documentary "proof" I am convince that this high quality supplement added to my cat's quality of life and helped keep her comfortable, shiny fur - even in decline and she stopped having periodic nausea. In other words, this supplement has been very well tolerated and seems to help.
