My daughter (5 1/2) loves reading these books at night (we read to her, mostly). However, in one of the books, Nancy and her friend get into an older boys' car when they get caught out riding their bikes in the rain. Yes, he is an acquaintance of theirs and a friendly guy, but c'mon! My daughter did not need to read that this was something it was fine for a little girl to do! You can see this as a teachable moment, but it caught me off-guard that this scene was even written into the book. The first thing this older boy says after the girls climb right into his car is "You haven't introduced me to your friend." I had to talk to my daughter for 30 minutes about the dangers of getting into anyone else's car without asking a parent's permission, and it kind of made her nervous and ruined her enjoyment of the book for that night. She really looks up to Nancy, and I was disappointed in that part of the book.
