Two Words: Learning Curve.
In short, a modern AV receiver, even in this price range, is best thought of as of a programmable media signal processing and distribution platform. Just because this is a moderately priced product does not mean it is limited in functionality or complexity. Overall I can't fault the product quality, features, functionality or performance. All are exemplary in its price range, as you would expect from Yamaha. However, there is so much capability and flexibility that setting it up the first time should be done on a quiet morning, with a good cup of coffee, and several hours of uninterrupted time. And take notes as you go. If you're not comfortable with that, I suggest you find a qualified installer (or a spare teenage male, if you have one around the house). For example, assigning different inputs to Zone 2, to feed radio, or streaming audio to the lanai, while Zone 1 runs a 5.1 video in the family room from DTV or DVD is doable, but getting it running the first time is a challenge. Luckily the system supports web control via browser. But you first have to configure your WiFi, and find your IP Address. Good luck with that. But eventually you will, and it works, and it's on pages 111-113 of 149 of the full manual download on the Yamaha website. Not the short form manual that comes with the unit. You need to download the full documentation to a USB drive, take it to Kinkos, print it out double sided, punch it, and put it in a 3-ring binder for reference. And you will be referring to it a lot, at least at first. BTW, while you're on the Yamaha website, you'll also want to check for firmware upgrades. They matter. And when you do finally get it setup and running the way you want be sure to lock the configuration. Oh, it's called 'Memory Guard'. You'll find Memory Guard on page 116. Enjoy.
