Sprinkle, tinkle, and leave. I don't know that we used this powder properly, but we didn't have a smelly latrine in the end. Because of weather and location, we actually had our bucket latrine inside our tent (crazy folks we are, I know). Used four times in the middle of the night, once for "#2", we never smelled anything but pleasant lemongrass scent. I am thoroughly amazed. We didn't use up a whole pouch (there are several pouches in the package) in a day, there is plenty for future outings. This package will last a while. Will buy again!
