We all know this is the best Star Trek movie ever. This review is about this new Blu-ray transfer. This brand-new transfer is from a new 4K scan of the film and it so much better than the original 2009 Blu-ray release! They've gotten rid of all the artificial blue from the image and this new scan brings out details that I could never see before. The image is so incredibly sharp; it looks like it was filmed yesterday! The uniform reds are a beautiful example. All the extras from the previous DVD and Blu-ray releases are included, plus a brand-new one with director Nicholas Meyer. The original batch of these Blu-rays came with an error in a scene and Paramount manufactured new ones that fixed the problem and exchanged them for free. A family member bought me my disc from Amazon (not a third-party seller) in late October 2016 and I got the corrected Blu-ray without the error in the first instance. It is easy to tell if you have received the corrected one or one from the old batch with the error: the corrected one has a yellow and black barcode, as opposed to the original batch that came with a white and black barcode. Check before unsealing. I'm attaching a picture from another website that contrasts both. Oh, and the director's cut is great and better than the theatrical release!
