The product pictures do not do this lamp justice at all! First, this is a gorgeous and extremely modern design for a lamp. It is optimally balanced and will not tip over. The lamp base is a soft silicon type material that feels like silk when held. The "arm" is located in this covering and allows for all sorts of lighting angles. The lamp is made of smooth metal with the Led embedded perfectly inside. The back of this holding has a glass cut out that shows the lamb's name... Very classy. The controls are ULTRA sensitive and respond amazingly well. A slight pressure almost as if it actually senses the heat from your hand turns this light on, while the sleek control panel changes the lighting mode and lighting brightness. Again, possibly the most beautiful lamp I've ever purchased. It is powered by a rechargeable internal battery that has a very long use time. I have not gotten 40 hours but I've definitely gone a few nights out of each charge. I love that it really does have 18 different lighting modes. You are going to enjoy this lamp for reading, ambient lighting and for general lighting needs. It is bright enough to see by and dims enough not to be a bother. My only con (and it's not a con really but actually a product improvement) would be for a soft carrying case to use on outings and that there was a battery indicator. There is a blue light that flashes to let you know you have a few minutes of light left but a battery indicator would have been sweet. I actually purchased this item and was not given a free product to review. I hope my review helps other purchasers
