Great potential Wagon
UPDATE - after over 2 years of extensive use to parks, walks, malls, beaches, grass, gravel, concerts, museum, using it for my newborn son's "crib/playpen" when I'm at the beach or park so he's not tempted to eat sand/dirt. etc etc, one of my rear wheel cracked along the outer edge. It happened on the way to Hollywood Bowl but it still held up 1/2 miles to and from the venue with cracks getting slightly larger and making noise but still held up with 2 kids, small ice box, bunch of food, blankets, and clothes. After having it sit in garage for a month I decided to do some measurement and get a replacement wheel. None of replacement wheels at local hardware store worked so I ordered Farm & Ranch10 in. No Flat Tire (4-Pack) from HD.p.t and it did the trick (10"x 4.5" wheel will fit). It's similar to Red Flyer all terrain wagon wheels, but flatfree. I had to saw off plastic on the wheel axle to make replacement wheels fit. But it's much nicer now and doesn't make any noise. I'll test it out on the sand and update the report as well as put some new pictures up. I put radio flyer's canopy at times, but it would be nice if wagon came with canopy like the non beach models - [[On The Edge 900124 Red Folding Utility Wagon With Handle]] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pros: Easy to open and fold Easy to pull Big wide wheels Sturdy bottom (My son sat, lied and stood on it) It can be pulled in folded position. Cons: Way the front wheels are narrower for compact fold, if the wagon is loaded front heavy, it will tip over especially during a turn. As long as my kid stayed in the back 1/2 it was ok, but as soon as he scooted to front 1/2 it tipped over. The clip for the handle does not always and will not stay Cart can't be folded with a sports bottle in the bottle holder. It has to be taken out, folded and re inserted into the holder. Additional Info: Inside dimension of the cart is 18" by 30". Since the clip for the handle does not lock properly, be careful when you take the cover off. I got hit on my toes twice before I learned my lesson. There is no parking brake for this or any of foldable wagon at this time. Modifications-Simplest way to get rid of tipping problem is rotating the front wheel 180 degrees, detached the handle and reattched it at correct position. (Please refer to my posted pics) This will get rid of tipping problem completely. (If you would like your wagon compact as possible, just roated it 180 when in use then rotate it back when folded. Do not detach and reattach the handle) MODIFICATION REQUIRING ADDITIONAL PURCHASES (refer to user pictures): I like the cart for small profile when foldes so I want this to be my ultimate cart. -I purchased a lawn chair cushion dimension 18" by 42" for added cushion to back and bottom for my son. (around 20 bucks) -Radio Flyer Wagon Canopy will fit the cart but due to clip being in a wrong angle, you'll need to drill a hole and and screw it the clips at a 90 degrees rotated angle from the factory. -Since it doesn't stand on its own, I added Bicycle Cycling Alloy Bike Kickstand Side Stand Holder. -To maximize room for my kid but make it as compact as possible, I zip tied Eleven81 Folding Wire Rear Mounted Bike Basket in the front to put miscellaneous things like water bottle, jacket, snacks, etc. -To get rid of handle hitting my toes, I grabbed my dive gear retractor (something similar to Gear Keeper Flash Pak Combo Mount Retractor Rt4-5972) and attached it to the handle and my basket so it'll retract back to upright when I let the handle go. -And I found a folded dolly in my house, went to a local welder and welded in the back. (30 bucks for welding) It's handy for beach, when I can just throw bunch of thing and secure it with cable tie or just have it folded up when not in use. I've tested the Wagon on the sand in Santa Monica Beach with about 50lbs of stuff as recommended on sand. it will pull sort of...without sinking but it's hard as hell. Little bit better than dragging but it's not like a flat surface for sure. Grass is easy to pull and hard wet sand was easier to pull than dry sand. I'll try something similar to Marathon Industries 00010 4.10/3.50 -4-Inch Flat Free Hand Truck/Utility Tire, 2.25-Inch Offset Hub, 5/8-Inch Bearing, 10-Inch Tire Diameter when I get a chance. It should give easier movement over the sand. You'll get a lot of glances & people asking you where you got it. And as another reviewer said, I wish it was bit bigger...around 20x40 inside dimension so 2 kids will be comfortable. or one kid can spread out and sleep.
