Good stuff, Dentist advised caution
So I made three changes. I got this this toothpaste, an extra soft toothbrush, and a water flosser. I hadn't kept up with brushing very well and hadn't been to the dentist for a cleaning in over a year. Typically I have a lot of tarter when I go in. This time the hygienist said that I had absolutly no tarter and was impressed at how clean they were. When I asked the dentist about activated carbon toothpaste he said he had read some recent papers on it and cautioned that a lot of research is still needed to make sure it won't damage your enamel long term. Seems based on my experience, if it is abrasive enough that it can remove a year of tarter in 1 week of brushing, then his concerns could be legitimate. My non-professional take on this product is it is good to use for a week at a time if you get behind on brushing or perhaps to buff them before you whiten them. Also, I would say that the claims about this stuff being a whitening product are only true to the extent that removing plaque/tarter improves the appearance of your teeth. If your enamel is stained, you need a peroxide product.
