Works great as part of a process
These are terrific. Very sticky and do not dry up. They catch the tiny gnats that fly around the surface of potted plants. These are not for fruit flies. But for a complete solution, one also needs to kill the microscopic larvae in the moist soil. So withhold watering and sprinkle some food-grade diatomaceous earth around the top soil of affected plants. DE will not hurt the plants and is nontoxic. Also when repotting it is best to sanitize the new soil before use. I do this by placing the entire bag of potting soil in a black heavy-duty construction trash bag and leave in full sun for a day or two. This heats it up to over 120 degrees F. and kills the gnat larvae or eggs present. For small amounts of soil you can place on a tray in the oven set to 200F for an hour or so. Happy gardening.
