An honest tech review...
This is truly an amazing deal! Sprint prepaid has been around for a while but hasn’t had much buzz because of it’s lack of phone selection. Generally I do not recommend most prepaid cell providers, the low quality signal and second rate equipment often outweigh any benefits that could have been had. Lately some manufacturers have been producing extremely low quality Android phones for big profits, leaving the consumer holding the bag; waiting in line at the returns desk. This phone is priced $99 with free Prime shipping at Amazon, at a fair middle-ground valuation. This thing has a crazy bezel-less 5″ HD display and it’s not clunky feeling like the HTC Desire 510 that we recently reviewed. The phone has a very ergonomic feel in the hand and a weight that would be comfortable to hold for most. One very interesting side note is that the Sharp Aquos Crystal phone does not have an earpiece speaker like a traditional mobile phone would, instead the sound is sent through some crazy science-fiction sound vibration thing that the phone creates using the glass! It’s quite marvelous in person and did not affect the call volume or quality in the least bit, in our personal opinions. The loud speaker for music however was a different story, the chintzy speaker can barely fill a shoe box with sound…music is a very big thing when it comes to mobile devices so I’m not quite sure why Sharp opted to use such a poor quality component. sprint sharp aquos crystalApps run faster than expected, I was doubly impressed by the fact that this phone has a vibrant, high-end display that I would say compares to something like my Moto X (1st Gen) or the retina display if you’re familiar with those displays. The included 1.5 GB RAM is ample for a phone of this nature. Applications ran responsively and loading multiple processes did not seem to tax anything much. I’m not entirely sure if this phone will be receiving the Android Lollipop 5.0 software or not, but to be honest the phone handles KitKat like a trooper. The cameras are fine, nothing to write home about but clearer than most prepaid phones we’ve seen recently. I was put off by the awkward placement of the front-facing camera but quickly realized that it wasn’t a deal breaker and that I was willing sacrifice some function for the more modern form factor. I can say that the model we are reviewing for Sprint Prepaid does not a removable battery which I’m finding to be a common manufacturer practice with almost all new phones lately. The phone comes with an 8 GB of internal storage and a Micro SD Card slot, compatible with sizes up to 128 GB. From the sleek smartphone exterior to the powerful internal components and the ultra-vibrancy of the display make this one of the greatest bangs for one’s buck. It’s almost too good to be true with this one, but it truly was what it advertised itself as. You will not be disappointed with this if you are looking for a top-end phone with a low-end price tag. We love it!
