This is a perfectly acceptable little whistling tea kettle, and I totally disagree with others who think it is a piece of junk. It is not. It sits prettily on my stove until ready for use, I just open the little top and fill it to where the instructions say to fill it to (NB!), put the top back on and fire it up. It whistles loudly enough so that I can hear it throughout my apartment. When I pour, I just press the button and the spout cover stands up and I've never had it spill. The spout cover stand up until you push the button again. You can either put it back on the stove sans whistle, or you can put the spout cover down and hear it whistle until it's no longer hot. Your choice. It's pretty. It does the job. It's a good price. I think that says everything about it!
