Worth the extra money??
I was NOT going to buy a $200 baby monitor. What a waste of money, I thought. But ultimately after my Summer Infant monitor (which was a baby shower gift worth more than $100+), had a battery that kept dying within an hour after less than a year of use, I called their customer service and they said to either buy a new battery (which they were sold out of) or buy a new monitor ($60-70). Well with a poor picture quality from the start, and a fragile monitor screen that cracked when it slipped off my nightstand, I decided against giving Summer Infant any more business. And after contemplating a while, and reading and researching all the reviews for monitors, I finally caved in and bought this Infant Optics DXR8 for my second baby (I have a 14 month old and a 2 month old). So was it worth the money? Well all I have to say is that I actually FEEL happy looking at this monitor and watching my baby sleep. The picture quality is so clear even without the extra zoom lense that comes with it. The quality of the materials even feels sturdier. Ultimately, I believe I will use this monitor every single day for the next couple years and the dollar amount will be the least of my concerns as long as I FEEL happy using it. Sometimes you don’t know how you ever did without something until you actually try it- kinda like high speed Internet vs dialup. Lol.
I’ll try to give an updated review after a year of use!
