An excellent historical novel about WWI
"Half in Shadow" is a beautifully written novel depicting the horrors and grief that war visits on combatants, their families, and civilians caught in the way. Gemma Liviero's prose is a treat. Her characters are richly drawn and her descriptions of time and place are evocative. I was truly impressed by the level of detail she managed to include and how she was able to put me right in the middle of her story.
