Nice change of pace from competitive games - REALLY fun variation we came up with! Highly recommend this game to everyone!
I am a social worker by trade and I've worked a long time in child development. My background combined with the cooperative aspect of this game is what drew me to this game. Almost all games available it seems are competitive. Granted there is a time and a place for that and competitive games are not inherently bad - but cooperative games aren't generally pushed as much as competitive games and are fewer and farther between. My boys are 4 1/2 and 9 1/2 and both LOVE this game. We have played it with other friends and family members (both kids and adults) and everyone enjoys it. We added a variation to it that seems to make it even more fun in our opinion - whomever draws an ogre card gets the treat of making whatever ogre noise they can come up with (no matter how loud, silly or crazy). I would recommend this game to anyone who has kids who are preschool to elementary school age. It's nice to have a game where individuals aren't complaining about who won or got what or if it was fair or not. My kids have handled "losing" the game to the ogre quite well. It's much easier for them to lose to an ogre as a team than to each other. My kids have a tendency to be competitive in general so I like that this game does not emphasize that quality - nice change of pace.
