Put tool on top of something soft like a notebook and do it on a solid table
Brought this to cut a mirco SIM into nano for my Honor 5x. Tool is well made and cutting process is simple. Here are some pointers. 1. Make sure micro SIM is flushed perfectly with the silver metal tray. I pushed SIM into the tray using my thumb on top of a notebook to give it some support. Next, insert tray into tool, make sure gold SIM metal contact is facing out AND the corner cut of the SIM tray is on the same side as the tool. Before making the cut, push tray fully inside the tool and hold it with the tip of your finger. The tray is loose and may move accidentally if not secured. Put tool on top of something soft like a notebook and do it on a solid table. Put you palm on top of the tool and give it a good push down. Do not hesitate, make it one smooth slow motion. It does not require a lot of force. Another reviewer compared the force to punching 15 sheets of paper using a 3-hole puncher. I say that's about right, maybe just a little less effort. Finally, smooth the edge of the nano SIM with either included sandpaper or a nail filer. This is an excellent product, took me just a few minutes to do the job. The cutter did not remove gold contact on any sides. It came really close and my understanding is even if it did remove a tiny bit of the contact, it is ok. The actual circuit is in the middle of the SIM.
