Not just a smashing adaptation, but an all-around home run
Even if you haven’t read the books, you will love this show. Heck, if you didn’t know this was based on a book, you would think it’s a big-studio top-dollar original. It’s dark, gritty, completely believable, well acted, well paced, loaded with compelling internal and external conflicts, just a total win for fans of Alex Rider and of good TV in general. This fills all the holes in my heart left by the 2006 Stormbreaker movie and even by some of the disappointments of Star Wars and Artemis Fowl.
Have I raved enough yet? This show is immersive and compelling. The accuracy to the books is well respected, but with enough fresh twists to keep the seasoned fans guessing. Brilliantly done. This is what the Alex Rider series always deserved. An instant gem in a sea of repetitive or tropey screenwriting.
