I bought this for my Instant Pot, but opted to keep the handles. Just think how much stuff can fit in this basket for steaming! If the solder spots are C-clamped while manipulating with pliers, you improve your odds of keeping the handles. To fit the 6-quart Instant Pot, there is only 1/4" between the basket and the liner pan of the Instant Pot, so the handles cannot jut out more than that. Also, the handles need to bend a bit so the Instant Pot lid can be secured. I have attached some photos of our practical (if not perfectly executed). I tested that I was indeed able to lock the lid of the Instant Pot with the basket in place. If you have an 8-quart Instant Pot, you won't have to manipulate the pot as much. If the manufacturer reviews the comments on Amazon, he should realize that a slight variation in the product design, eliminating the need for customer jury-rigging, could justify a slightly higher price, yet result in sold-out inventories!
