Best so far
I have spent 2 years in Afghanistan. We used Grundig radios very similar, but this one beats it out in several ways.
1. The Solar panel makes this a no brainer. The idea that you can leave the radio in the window and have it charge is worth 1,000,000 bucks. Keeping 3 AAs in it for back up is easy and efficient.
2. the light on this one is 3 LEDs. My old Grundig had 1, which did very little. Don't get me wrong, this does not put out "lots" of light, but if you took this radio with you to the latrine or around the house, it is Plenty. In a tent, perfect.
3. Bonus, this one has a plug in charger to speed the charge, but it is not for running the radio, just charging.
4. There is a plug with a USB adapter to charge the phone if needed too. I have not worked this yet, but just the idea of a quick phone call in an emergency makes it worth it.
5. The display on this has a back light you can switch on. SOOOO handy in the dark.
Radio is loud and clear, and it now sits with a couple solar lanterns and flashlights in a bright place, ready for use. I plan on simply filling a small bag with the solar flashlights, radio and lanterns for camping trips. My kids go through batteries like crazy and this solves that problem.
Finally,,,, could be critical if the Zombies come...... (I am kidding of course) ;)
