Not "Perfect" (what is?) but a Very Fine Vacuum Cleaner Which I Can Recommend
This Shark IONFlex DuoClean Cordless Ultra-Light Vacuum (IF201) is an excellent stick vacuum cleaner, the best we have ever obtained. It is very easy to assemble and, after fully charging the unit, we were able to get about 20 minutes of vacuuming. We had vacuumed our foyer and living room just a couple of days ago with our Electrolux Ergorapido Lithium Ion Deluxe 2-1 Stick and Handheld Vacuum, EL2081A - Cordless yet this new Shark unit picked up a large amount of dirt, far more than we would have expected. Note that the Electrolux costs only about 1/3 the price of the Shark and it is a fine unit. But given our 'druthers, we'd much rather have this Shark than almost any other vacuum cleaner we own (so far!). It cleans closer to our baseboards than ANY other vacuum cleaner we have ever owned and it fits easily under our sofa, chairs, etc. and gets closer to their boundaries again better than any other vacuum cleaner we have ever owned. It comes with several attachments (and, as with all 'stick' vacuums in our experience, it has no place to store them). Frankly, however, and at least with us, we rarely if ever use these attachments so I placed them in a plastic grocery bag and put them in our closet. Is this vacuum perfect? Unfortunately no. There are three "cons" as I see it. Number One: "Lightweight" is a relative term, as is "Ultra Lightweight." In MY opinion, this vacuum would be "Ultra Lightweight" if compared to a Sherman Tank. But it isn't anything that I would call "Ultra Lightweight" (That Electrolux mentioned above is genuinely "Ultra Lightweight.") Number Two: The vacuum cleaner will not stand up on its own when it is extended for use. It is very poorly balanced, with most of the weight on top. If for some reason you need to stop vacuuming, you must either lean it against something, something which will hold it up without allowing it to fall over, or you must fold it into its storage shape. And Number Three: The run time is rather short. I admit that this vacuum is very powerful and therefore, even in its standard mode, it causes a large drain on a battery and I also admit that one can purchase (at quite a price!) a spare battery and charger. But I'm afraid that that option is not "in our cards" at the present time. (The cost quoted to me by Shark's representative was $129.00; you could almost buy a new vacuum cleaner for that price!) All those "cons" being said, my wife and I are very satisfied with this vacuum cleaner. It is powerful, it picks up lots of dirt that other vacuums leave behind, and it is easy to empty the dust cup. Plus the filters are washable; this should save a fair amount of money (not even to mention the inconvenience of having to frequently buy replaceable ones). So, as a result of our use of it, I can highly recommend this Shark IONFlex DuoClean Cordless Ultra-Light Vacuum (IF201). Thank you for reading this. Lawrence H. Bulk
