My Goal was to digitalize some OLD slides from the 50's to 70's (my parents loved slides). I was going to buy a much more expensive "self-contained" product with its own scanning electronics, but thought I would take a chance on this first -- could always return it under amazon's return policies -- since I knew I would rarely use it again once I got the slides captured. I am glad I did. It works great with my iPhone SE 2020 which is not even close to a top-of-the-line iPhone. Basically, you put the camera lens of your phone face down into the "hole," place the slide on top of the the battery-powered backlight (see attached picture) which shines the image into the lens of your phone, where you use your phone's zoom and other capabilities to capture the best image possible. Lastly, I found the free software app they've made available was useless for me; I got better results just using the software and photo apps resident on my iPhone. Perhaps useful for people with very old phones? That said, the quality of the imaged slide is 100% determined by the photo capabilities of your phone. If your phone's camera sucks, your image will too. Garbage in, garbage out on this product. I also like that it's legs easily "unfold" and can be stored it's small box safely when not in use. I HIGHLY recommend it. It made it easy to do what I wanted to do -- image slides. I am VERY satisfied.
