I have been cleaning houses professionally for about ten years, and have used a lot of different vacuums, both in my clients' homes and in my own. For the money, this vacuum is great! It's convenient for hard floors and carpets alike: just one button to turn the brushes on and off. The pet hair tool (on board) is fantastic for upholstery and areas that aren't wide enough to accommodate the vacuum. Pros: -cord is long enough to get most rooms without having to unplug. -there is a light on the vacuum, helpful for dark corners. -various tools on board and easily accessed for tight spaces. -light enough to carry up and down stairs. -canister detaches easily from the head to allow you to take the hose into corners and under things. -does a very good job picking up things: it will collect a surprising amount of dirt even from rooms you think are clean! -easy to take apart and clean (filters need to be washed and dried regularly). -easily fits into the trunk of my Miata, but I have to detach the top handle. Easy. -emptying the canister is very easy: it empties on the bottom, which is great for keeping the dirt *in* the trash bag and out of the air. -when you have the brush roll on and need to pause for any reason, it shuts off when returned to the upright position, then starts back up when you're ready, without having to push the button again. Cons: -A little louder than some other vacuums I've used. Not unbearably so, but I always warn my clients before using it if they're on the phone. -the air vent is on the front, so if you don't pay attention to that and angle the vacuum up a little as you're working, it will blow debris out from in front of you before you can get to it. -almost too much suction sometimes, especially on rugs that aren't firmly anchored or are even a little long. This isn't really a con, but it's good to know. Overall, I like this vacuum a lot! It does exactly what a vacuum should do and is put together thoughtfully. For the money, it's fantastic. I've recommended it to my clients... It gets the job done well.
