Not for older people...
It's a great little kettle, but there are some things worth noting: 1) It's NOT for folks with arthritic hands. While aesthetically pleasing, the tiny knob and tightly fitting lid are a bear for painful, stiff fingers to deal with. Not good at all, and I may have to retire it before I've even really begun to use it. 2) No little floating indicator to show water level. While it does have a clear plastic chamber that shows the amount of water in the kettle, there is no little bead- preferably red- to bob on the surface to show the water level. Because condensation collects in there as well, discerning the actual height is kind of a pain, usually meaning that I have to hold the still-hot kettle up to my face and squint to make sure that I'm not over-filling. Again, an older person with bad eyesight will not appreciate. 3) The product is made for the Japanese market and it took about a month to arrive on the East Coast. That wasn't a problem, but if you're wanting to have it in hand for a specific event, keep that in mind. 4) All instructions, Warranty info, etc are exclusively in Japanese. Not a big deal, but might matter to another. 5) Other than that, it's an adorable, functional, overpriced little thing that sits happily on my countertop. They also make a matching toaster and espresso machine if you want the whole line. While I'm essentially pleased with it, I would not have purchased it had I known.
