I'm 5'5, 230lbs, 44DD. I've never ordered a bra of this style before, but was hoping this would have a slimming effect on me. The cup size ended up being too large, making it such that my shirts didn't lay smoothly across my chest. I returned the DD and ordered a D. It fits much better, but it's still not comfortable. The pics I've included are me wearing the 44D. As you can see, the waist rolls up rather easily (perhaps this is due to a still-improper fit?). However, when it's not rolled up, it doesn't appear to be too small. I wish the sides came up higher and kept me from spilling out so much under the arms. The lined/reinforced ribs give much needed added support, but can also contribute to the bra being uncomfortable. The cup shape isn't cone-like (no Madonna here), and I like that it opens/closes in the front. It's also a very pretty bra with nice detailed lace. I've since ordered a 46D and a 48D -- waiting for them to arrive. I like this bra well enough to go to the trouble of trying to figure out which size fits best, and that's saying a lot. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ UPDATE: The 48D was too big in every respect. The 46D fit better around the waist, but suddenly the cups were too big and didn't support me correctly. I found my girls literally siding out of the bottom of the cup. So I've returned both of these. I'm tempted to try a 46C (I haven't worn a C-cup in over 20 years!), but at this point, I'm getting frustrated.
