best of the lot
Basically any keyboard for the iPad turns an elegant tablet into a more or less clunky laptop. But if you are over 40, touch type and use the iPad for taking notes, producing documents or sending more than texty emails, chances are that a keyboard is an essential accessory. I used the regular Apple bluetooth keyboard for years - nice device, types well, but its separateness defeats the purpose. Recently I've purchased the ClamCase, the ZaggFolio, and the Logitech Ultrathin desperately looking for the best compromise. The ClamCase was heavy and unusuable - the keys are sticky and the reviews that mention how the wristpad blocks the space bar are absolutely right; you just can't type on the damn thing. The ZaggFolio has a very nice keyboard, but the case adds considerable bulk and weight, and it's a minor chore to remove the iPad. The Logitech Ultathin is by far the best of the lot. Its magnetic latch, aluminum back, thinness and light weight preserve the design integrity of the iPad as well anything one can imagine. When serving as a screen cover, the ensemble feels very iPad-like, with minimum added bulk and weight. The keyboard, while not quite as crisp as the Zaggfolio, works flawlessly for me (and I have big hands). The magnetic latch is very slick, so it's more of a pleasure than a chore to attach or disattach the iPad from it. It works well from a lot of different typing angles; it supports and balances the tablet with remarkable security for such a light device; and the keyboard is quieter than most laptop keyboards.
