Surprisingly Impressive
My experience with battery powered grooming devices is that they never have enough "oomph" to get the job done, at least not for male users like myself. I've used a variety of those little weed wacker gadgets to trim nose hair that never do the trick, or at least not as well as scissors. Electric shavers need to be run forever over my thick stubble to work, and a Fusion manual does a better job in half the time. So when I ordered this electric pedicure device to use on my callused feet, I did not expect much and thought a pumice stone would easily best the Amope gadget. To my surprise, the Amope proved really effective at getting rid of thick calluses, quickly and painlessly. The tougher areas of my feet needed a bit of extra going over, but certainly not more than 10 or 20 seconds for even the ridgiest of areas. This is more than the 3 or 4 seconds the Amope manual suggests you spend on each area, but I did not feel any pain or friction even with 10 or 15 seconds of application. I wouldn't grind away for a minute, but I think 3 or 4 seconds is probably a tad conservative. Be sure to use the PP on dry feet though; wet skin might change the effectiveness for the worse and could also lead to possible injury from over-sloughing. The smoothing effect seems to last for a while, so I could not give an estimate as to battery life. The Pedi Perfect is quiet, and has a pretty simple learning curve. I was impressed at how easy the PP was to clean, and cleaning was really quick also. The PP is a lot more effective and easy to use than a pumice stone or a PediEgg. What took 15 minutes to do to a mostly smooth surface with a pumice stone could be done to a smoother level in a third of the time with the Amope gadget. This is a clear case of better living through electricity! Downside? The PP produces a cloud of skin dust as you use it, so be sure to be in a well ventilated area and be aware you will need to clean some callus dust up after the fact. Not sure how they could have fixed this, so I am not taking any point off for it. Plus of course you have to use a lot of batteries over the life of the product to keep it running. Alternate A/C power mode and / or an internal rechargeable battery would have made this a better product. The Pedi Perfect lost a star for me due to price, as I think the current price point is a tad too dear for what you get. Though the PP works well, I think it is overpriced given its relatively low tech level and ongoing need for batteries as the only method for power. But if you don't mind the price, this works great even for those with nasty calluses.
