When I first received this new unit I noticed that after an hour it was producing a sweet sickly chemical smell. After doing some research I saw that it could have been because the V5 filter needed to offgas and that it would go away. WRONG. I've been running the unit for over 3 weeks trying to get rid of this horrible chemical smell that makes me feel ill when I'm around it but it won't go away. What's the point of purchasing an air purifier if it makes the air worse? When I've taken out the V5 filter I smelled it up close and it had a very foul odor coming from it. I don't see how the HealthPro Plus costs more than the base version when the extra cost is going to an odor control filter that creates a horrible chemical smell itself making the product unusable. update: IQAir was very kind to contact me about the issue and have arranged to send me a new odor control filter. Hopefully this new filter works without producing the bad odor. I appreciate the customer service. update2: with the replaced filter the machine works very well and the air smells clean.
