Comparison to Uppababy Minu
I bought the Uppababy Minu rather than the yoyo+ when my baby was little, since I didn't like the foam handlebar and poor suspension on the older model- this new model fixed those flaws, and since I have to fly frequently for work I ended up buying this one when it came out. Thought I'd put up a comparison for those considering these two awesome options!
Cost- Minu- much cheaper, car seat adapters, rain cover, and infant bassinet significantly cheaper
Quality- Tie- luxe fabrics that are easy to remove to wash, padded leather handlebars, great design
Folded Size- Yoyo2 is significantly smaller folded, though both fit easily in overhead compartment on a plane, in order for the Minu to fit into the travel case I had to remove the wheels- which wouldn't be a big deal if I flew 3-4x/year, but I fly that much a month, and that's honestly the only reason I bought this stroller.
Fold- The Minu folds like a dream! Super simple one hand fold that got me a 'wow' from the security at London airport. The unfold is not technically one hand, but can be done with one hand especially when the stroller is up at waist level (unhook latch first then pick up and whole thing pops out, similar to yoyo. Whenever I fold the yoyo2 I'm wishing that it had the same folding mechanism as the Minu. Yoyo2 can be folded while holding baby- you just have to remember to do the first two hand step of the fold prior to removing the baby from the stroller. The 2nd stage is much more awkward since you have to crouch down and reach to the bottom of the stroller. Unfold is slightly easier than Minu but in combination with that it sometimes unfolds when I don't want it to.
Stability- Minu wins here too- feels more stable when turning, especially with infant car seat attached (which makes both a little more top heavy). Yoyo2 is still super stable, but whipping around curves you feel more tendency to pull with yoyo2 than minu.
Car seat adapters- Minu-I used the Nuna car seat adapters which can be folded with the Minu (the uppababy adapters cannot fold with it so I would not recommend that combo!) I didn't travel with these since the adapters would have to be removed to fit into the travel case. I also don't like to have baby in car seat more than necessary so I primarily used the bassinet and checked the car seat when flying. The car seat sits much higher in the minu than in the yoyo which is nice for baby seeing your face well, and putting in binkies, as well as getting car seat off and on not having to bend over as far. Yoyo2 car seat adapter has a piece that permanently stays on your stroller- this makes it so stroller still folds tiny with it on, but also makes it so to use it on another stroller you have to remove this piece and risk losing it. The baby also sits significantly lower, and in spite of that it still feels a little more top heavy than the minu with the car seat attached.
Bassinet- Tie-This was another initial strike against yoyo for me is the bassinet is so expensive! I don't have the yoyo bassinet because my baby was over 6mo by the time I bought this, but I'd consider getting it for next baby. I loved and adored the bassinet for uppababy minu, high quality, folds as easily as toddler seat, but the bassinet does sit much lower than in standard stroller (same issue with yoyo)
Toddler Seat- Yoyo2-Both seats are comfortable and easy to remove to clean. Recline is not full on either, but sufficient for naps on the go. Yoyo seat only wins because the recline is a lot easier to operate than the minu (can be done with one hand).
Canopy- Minu- The extra extension on the canopy is gold! Also better visibility through peekaboo window
Basket- Minu- The yoyo basket is even worse than i thought it would be- the narrow back and the front with two bars down the middle mean you can fit maybe a little diaper clutch and a small thermos with a bottle. Minu basket is surprisingly spacious and I've even gotten 2-3 bags of groceries in there.
Handlebar height- Tie- my husband and I are both over 6 feet- both are comfortable height, I prefer the width of the Minu handlebar
Kick length- Minu- I tend to kick the back wheels of the yoyo more often, and have even accidentally hit the brake a few times, I am sure as I get used to it it'll happen less.
Brake- Minu- I love the red/green very flip flop friendly brake of the minu better
Shocks- Tie- Both handle lovely over cobblestone/brick/uneven sidewalk and even tried both on grass and gravel.
Popping up curbs- Minu is significantly easier to pop up a curb
Weight- Yoyo2 beats minu by a full pound
Long story short- For everyday life Minu is the stroller you want! It's really the only stroller you would need since it can do everything a full size stroller can-but having to remove the wheels for air travel ended up being a deal breake for me using it for flights- too hard to do when traveling alone, especially before your baby can stand on his own. For frequent Fliers, you'll want the yoyo2- nothing can beat the compact fold and ease of carrying through the airport. If the yoyo2 had been out when I was first shopping I probably would have bought it instead, but I'm actually glad I ended up with both. I keep the Minu in my trunk and the yoyo2 in my husbands car and primarily use it for air travel.
Hope this helps you make your decision!
