My wife and I bought this Dog Backpack for our 14 pound Shih Tzu. We went on a 7,000 mile road trip through the Canadian Rockies and the Pacific Northwest and this backpack was invaluable in keeping our 14 year old dog safe and secure. We used it as a car seat and as a backpack dog carrier. As a doggie car seat, it kept our dog comfortable and secure in the back seat. The backpack attaches to the car seat by putting a strap over the car seat's headrest and by threading the seatbelt through some loops in the backpack. We placed a cushion from a doggie bed in the backpack for some extra cushioning for our dog (otherwise there is no cushioning) to help her enjoy the ride. The backpack was a great size for our dog and while riding in the car she spent most of her time asleep in her backpack. There is a strap inside the backpack to attach to a dog harness to keep her from jumping out of the backpack. I also used the backpack as a backpack to carry my dog on a few hikes. The shoulder straps are well padded and the pack itself fit comfortably on my back. I had no problem with the frame of the backpack digging into my back, unlike some other reviewers. The backpack was very comfortable carrying my 14 pound dog. As for my dog, she had more than enough room to stand up in the backpack and look around or to lie down and take a snooze. The screen backdoor can be zipped up or left opened with the dog secured by the inside strap. You can roll up the screen and secure it rolled up with attached Velcro tabs. The backpack is very well made and in my estimation will last a very long time. It took a few minutes for our dog to get use to her backpack, but after a few miles on the road, she was fast asleep. Great product. We did test the backpack out before our trip and the rolling feature worked fine, but we did not use that feature on our trip. The backpack also has two storage pockets on the sides and plenty of ventilation. Our dog ended up loving it and we did too.
