Best car seat I've owned in the 16 years I've had to use them.
This is going to be a long and thorough review, so please bare with me. I purchased two of these car seats about 8 weeks ago. I fretted over whether or not they would fit in my vehicle and how they would fit my children after reading so many reviews that these were huge, and complaints on the comfort. My children are about to turn 9 & 6. Our family travels a lot, in fact in the 8 weeks we have owned them we have taken one minor road trip (5 hours), moved 12 hours away, and made a round trip back and forth 24 hours, for a total of 41 hours strapped down. You really learn what they like and dislike about a new car seat spending that much time in the car! My 9 year old is about 4.5 feet tall and weighs 68lbs. My 6 year old is 3'10" and 44lbs. They both fit these car seats rather well. The 9 year old has a few minor complaints on long trips. She complains that the car seat becomes uncomfortable on her back and bottom, but after any major length of time that is understandable. She used the 5point harness up until the return trip home when she asked if she could convert it to a booster because she felt the buckle bothered her legs after so long. She does not have any complaints with general errands. I have asked her often If she likes or dislikes her seat overall and her consensus is that it is the best one she recalls having. She especially likes the pillowy parts near her head and how the seat keeps the seat belt from cutting at her neck. To be fair she had been in a cheap booster seat without a back prior and was use to having a little more movement. It has been an adjustment for her to get use to such a secure set again. My 6 year old transitioned from a Britax Boulevard 70. (Which I loved and thought was amazing until I was introduced to the click tight, WOW). He has zero complaints as there isn't much change other than he has cup holders now and more cushin around his head. Now for fit. I have a 2012 Chevrolet Traverse and my husband has a 2014 Honda Accord. Both car seats fit really well in both cars. In the Honda there is no room for a third passenger in the back, so we just lay the console down for extra cup holders. They fit the traverse like they were made for the seat. My older children have no problems getting past them to the third row, the arm rest attached to the vehicles seat still moves freely as well. (Pictures of both vehicles attached). Installing these car seats was very easy and by far the best install experience I've had, and I've been dealing with car seats for 16 years. They do not budge one bit once the click tight clicks down. The only down side is weight. They are heavy! We typically do not move them from car to car and for that I'm thankful! They do need to be put in the vehicle head first at an angle because they raise so high. Once positioned to be locked down everything is a breeze. Finally, I bought these on sale. However they're even cheaper today when writing this review. I suppose that is a bummer for me. The price tag is steep, but they are well worth it. These will be the last car seats I buy, and I feel so much better with the extra side impact protection as much time as we spend traveling. My only regret is that I spent so much time talking about buying these instead of just doing it! I hope this review helps. I tried to answer all the questions I had reading reviews before my purchase.
