We have two cats, and this vacuum has been great in cleaning up after them! I run it everyday as I leave for work and it picks up dirt, cat litter, cat hair, paper clips, dust, etc. It doesn't always reach all the corners or nooks, but we just sweep them out once a week or so. Very easy to empty, and relatively quiet! Make sure to move any phone chargers or random things off the floor - It's gotten stuck a couple of times. But, overall, I can't complain - It helps keep our floors clean!
