We recently moved into a home in a very arid zone that had a couple of trees that provided shade and character. Then a very determined sapsucker decided to claim one of them as his very own watering hole. He also decided to bang on our windows to reinforce his claim. Based on recommendations from the neighbors I tried a big roll of this scare tape. I first tried a few short lengths in low branches. Didn't impress the bird. Since I had a big roll & no ladder I tossed the roll over the highest branches near the drilled holes in the trunk. After loosely wrapping the tree and a nearby stake I left very long ribbons blowing in the wind. It has been 4 days and I haven't seen the bird since. A good solution - harmless, easily removed and effective.
