Ignore incorrect 1-star reviews, this tuner is great, and is easy to read and use.
There is a decal on the tuner screen that must be removed before use. The decal shows you what the screen looks like with all the LCD segments lit up and is probably where Col. Panic had their problem.
The tuner is easy to use (one on/off button), easy to see in light or dark (bright backlight, high contrast), is accurate, and is under $20.
I had no issues tuning the octave strings on a 12-string guitar. and wouldn't expect problems with any stringed instrument if they are between B0 and B7. You cannot change tuning from A = 440hz, but that is a fairly niche usage case.
I just got the tuner so battery life is unknown, but I would expect the included CR2032 battery to last for many months of normal use.
