Fantastic Light and Magnification - Dislike On Off Feature
There are many things to like about this mirror. The lighting is very true and clear and the magnification is perfect. I am very nearsighted and find that I can see much better detail with this mirror and apply makeup far more precisely than I could with my prior mirror. Also, there is no comparison with the brightness and clarity; the simplehuman sensor mirror is first rate. A plus is that the mirror is cordless and can easily be moved around for use. It would have been nice if the mirror also came with a non magnification surface.
My main complaint is the on off sensor. It seemed like a great idea UNTIL I found that as I was applying makeup, every time I would look away to retrieve a brush or search for a product in my makeup box, the mirror would turn off. This became annoying after having to turn the light back on multiple times. I felt like I had to remember not to deviate from being in the line of the sensor so that the mirror would not turn itself off when I did not want it to. I found that waving my hand in front of the sensor (which is located on the top of the mirror) would make the light come back on but after doing that multiple times, it became a nuisance. I finally solved the problem by putting a small piece of delicate painters (opaque) tape over the sensor so that the light would not keep cutting off when I didn't want it to. I would have MUCH preferred on option on this mirror to keep the light continuously illuminated. For a mirror priced this high, I would expect better design as far as the on off feature.
Overall, I am happy with this mirror. I would be much less happy if I had not been able to come up with a way to keep the mirror from constantly turning itself off when I did not want it to do so.
